Havruta: The Power of Questioning and Debate

We elucidate our unique methodology that transcends traditional research by integrating the 'Havruta' philosophy—approaching truth through continuous questioning and debate—into policy research. We believe that genuine solutions emerge from questioning predetermined model answers.

The Havruta Policy Research Model

Havruta is a traditional Jewish learning method where two partners question, converse, and fiercely debate with each other. Rather than relying on unilateral lectures or simple information transfer, it fosters profound learning and derives rational solutions through incisive questioning that penetrates the opponent's logic.

Asian Square has comprehensively integrated this Havruta philosophy into its policy research process. To ensure that policy reports or research projects do not remain mere written proposals, we conduct multidimensional Havruta debate workshops involving stakeholders from government, academia, and enterprise. This approach distinctly identifies the latent interests of each group and extracts the optimal common benefit.
